Second Street Gallery is pleased to present What’s Coming Is Already On Its Way, a solo exhibition of paintings by New York-based artist Barnaby Whitfield, in Dové Gallery from October 4 - November 22, 2024.

Barnaby Whitfield’s masterfully executed oil paintings are an imagined portrait of an American subculture where queer autonomy is achieved through regenerative agricultural practices. It is historical painting as motif to present another newly coded language through wary subjects imbued with the beauty of individuality and action — bodies busied by hope and bolstered by acceptance. Portraits of a strength not yet defined by collective consensus.

Meet the Exhibiting Artist

Barnaby Whitfield was born in Miami, Florida in 1970. He has exhibited throughout the US and Internationally for over two decades. The artist currently lives and works in Highland, New York. Recent exhibitions include the Miami based solo show “My Bones To Blossom” with Spinello Projects, a three person booth at the NADA art fair with New York’s Fierman Gallery and a group exhibition “The Last Judgement” with Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
