“I made this particular sculpture over the past few weeks. I have been thinking a lot about the simultaneous comfort and confinement of home, and the term ‘Shelter in Place.’ I wanted to make a piece that emulated a home, and was constructed from the materials of home. Included in this work is a blouse from my mom, my old backpack, a rug from my childhood home, and two of my t-shirts.
It was also important that this work spoke to the home outside my window. During this period I have spent much of my time looking out the window, appreciating the natural environment I share with my neighbors in the Hudson Valley. I hung and photographed this piece on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York.
