Russell Hamilton

Russell Hamilton holds a BA in Politic Science from the University of Minnesota, and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington (Seattle). He was an Artist-in-Resident at the Studio Museum in Harlem and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

He has worked as a independent visual artist, and as a community artist, in Minneapolis, East Harlem N.Y.C., Detroit, Seattle, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Obama City Japan. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., Asia, and the Middle East.

He was an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, an Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi/Dubai in the UAE, and most recently, as an Associate Professor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, MN. He is the recipient of the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Jacob Lawrence, The Jerome Foundation, The Intermedia Arts, and the Pratt Fine Arts Center Awards/Honorariums, just to name a few.

He currently resides in Minneapolis where he has his Art Studio and lives with his family.
