Flower by Jonah Tobias
I was living in NYC during 9/11, I remember afterwards the city had an eerie subdued feeling that lasted a full year. The vibrations, traffic, and humanity echoing off the buildings was missing, making New York feel like a different city by its absence.
Lately I go on long walks, see flowering trees, birds, barking dogs, people with face masks trying to maintain their 6 feet distance from me. I’m surrounded in beauty and struck by the silence. The roads don’t growl like they used to, the energy of humanity is instead like a giant spring storing vast potential energy.
