“Mutual Duty of All explores the solidity and fluidity of social bonds. This sculptural, stamped and forged sheet metal, documents the experience of social re-configuration and adjustment under external forces. The Covid-19 Pandemic constrains us to parse our personal identities as self, family, and, community.
In this sculpture, undulating folds express our ability to conform and mold oneself towards a larger identity. Indelible creases speak of the hardship of drastic change and communal responsibilities that define us, while we develop a larger sense of connection and attempt to remain responsive to those in our community. The brass-brushed finish solicits a return to positivity and vitality.”
