If you came this way… by Penny Chang
“For the last 10 months, I have been home alone. Hit on the head by a falling tree branch while sitting on a bench in New York City’s Washington Square Park in May 2019, I have been recovering since then from traumatic brain injury, unable to work and unable to drive. Most of my days have been spent home alone, resting and reading. It was not an easy time.
These days, times have changed. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, my whole family is home, my neighbors are home—everyone is home now, and many are home alone. Though I am home with my family now, I no longer see my friends in person, nor the dancers from my dance company, Deep Water Moves. This short movement/dance video speaks to what it’s like to be home alone—my condition until the middle of March, the condition of many people around the globe today. How do we stay home alone? How do we hold ourselves? How do we keep a connection?”
