“As an artist I normally spend a lot of time alone in isolation. This way of being is necessary for me to concentrate and create. In any bad situation I try to think about people who have it worse than I do. It gives me the perspective that I need. I wonder about nurses and doctors. I think about how I would feel having to go to work knowing that I’m exposing myself to something terrible.
This is what the painting is about. Fear of the unknown and the realization of how fragile we are should compel us to live every moment as if it’s our last.”
