April 14: Scott Marzano

Prompt: inspired by Tina Curtis, choose a species of marine life (plant, mammal, or fish) and create a work of art (abstract or realistic) inspired by your choice.

In her exhibition Radiolaria & Reef: Our Ocean’s Living Abstractions, Tina Curtis presented an assemblage of vibrant, abstract Oceanscapes consisting of bedecked kelp fronds, barnacles, gold leafed sponge coral and meticulously rendered Radiolarians, or “science lace,” as the artist refers to them. The artist’s attraction to the urchins, coral, and microscopic species of marine life that subtly grow, breathe, and move in our world’s oceans, is a reoccurring theme in her work.
