“[Silence is] my reaction to novel information about coronavirus as an illness that affected and infected the entire world in just afew months. I realized that we are, as a human race, absolutely helpless and fragile. This painting expresses the fear and waiting in silence. Fear of unprepared death, death of your loved ones, fear of economic collapse, fear of the unknown. But I used red because red is always the color of life, so there’s still hope in the waiting.”
