William Bennett, E pluribus unum, oval dance of balanced stones on boulder

“For years, I have enjoyed balancing stones, mostly when traveling away from home. Now during the lockdown, my UVA Sculpture class and I have adopted the sculpture practice of Andy Goldsworthy, a Scottish sculptor who works using only materials found in the landscape to make ephemeral works which he then preserves in photographs.”

“In this sculpture, the balanced stones are E pluribus (of many), all shapes and sizes, standing tall, balanced in the form of a unified oval dance, on the edge of a giant boulder, the Unum (one).”
