ADRIENNE DENT
“I kept a sense of immediacy to the photography and avoided over-thinking the shot. I considered what creates a sense of home within this house, especially during this pandemic and time of social upheaval.
My ability to connect with the sometimes-illusive calm center of domestic life is directly linked to the interplay of outside with inside, to the subtle shifting elements within the familiar as it manifests the passing of the sun, the reflection of natural light, and the hues of the changing exterior landscape.
This collection emerged from feeling a survivalist imperative to slowing down, to notice what is new and different in dialogue with what otherwise feels given. There is a stillness inside this change and we must engage this stillness in our homes in order to positively understand all that is dynamic.
For me home is a place to securely witness this dialogue and to metabolize the change around us, amidst us, and within us. As an artist this means noticing the light shifting as the days pass, no moment like another, and drawing inspiration and motivation from accepting and actively engaging with this change.”
